First in the series of composer/designer collaborations curated by Odradek, Himiko is a construction kit for a quadrophonic sound piece created by Formatt at Galerij Jan Colle (Ghent, Belgium) in januari 2007. Each disc contains a separate layer of sound with distinct charcteristics in dynamics, density and transparency. Himiko is not a piece of music in the traditional sense but rather works as a static sound sculpture.
Typographer and graphic designer Allon Kaye (EntrŽacte) bagged, labelled and folded each set into its own unique origami container, effectively combining DIY with mass production aesthetics.
Simultaneous playback recommended.
